College Graduates Who Change the World!

Getting to and through college has never been more complex for students from low-income backgrounds. They face a mountain of obstacles: burdensome application requirements, skyrocketing college costs, complicated financial aid applications, a lack of mentorship, and much more.

Our work expands educational access to ensure underserved students have the equitable support required to earn degrees and build meaningful careers. Just last year, thanks to the incredible generosity of donors like you, we supported over 1,500 students across Napa Valley on their journeys to and through college.

Our near-peer mentors are embedded on six high school campuses, instilling confidence in our students’ unlimited potential while providing personalized support every step of the way. For those at Napa Valley College, we provide the resources needed to transfer and succeed at four-year universities; consequently, our students transfer at double the national average. Our volunteers help students build financial literacy skills and provide mentorship, offering vital career and graduate school readiness guidance.

More than 80% of our scholars earn a bachelor’s degree, with 90% graduating debt-free. Reflecting our mission, 100% of our students come from low-income backgrounds, 93% are students of color, and 92% are the first in their families to attend college.

Abode assists people who are currently experiencing or have recently exited homelessness. Annually, we serve over 1,000 individuals throughout Napa County. We provide case management, housing support, and street outreach; operate the South Napa Shelter; provide permanent supportive housing services at four locations; and offer tenancy sustaining services at sites throughout Napa aimed at keeping our participants housed for the long term.

Once housed, Abode case managers support the clients on their pathway to self-sufficiency, aiming to build a base of stability for long-term success in housing. We support residents in paying rent on time, create a budget, follow the terms of their lease, keep their units clean and in good repair, and communicate effectively with property management.

In 2025, we welcomed 180+ people into new homes.

As Napa’s only provider of youth substance use disorder (SUD) treatment, our prevention programs reach 14 schools across NVUSD, SHUSD, and CJUSD. Last year, prevention staff provided 130 service referrals, engaged 68 participants in Brief Interventions across 76 sessions, facilitated 125 group sessions across 17 groups with 73 successful participants, and hosted 23 outreach events and 19 educational presentations.

Our ADAPT program—a unique hybrid educational-therapeutic model at Vintage High School—embeds full-time therapists and behavioral health experts in the classroom, supporting students whose mental health has impacted their ability to attend traditional school.

Through our fentanyl awareness campaign, we distributed over 1,500 test strips at 45 outreach events last year and are on track to distribute more than 2,000 this year. Through Behavioral Health and SOAR programming, we served over 300 clients and their family members.

A Heart for Horses: Giving Thoroughbreds and Sport Horses New Beginnings

We believe every horse deserves safety, dignity, and purpose. We address the need for rescue, retirement, rehabilitation, aftercare, and rehoming for retired, injured, at-risk, and unwanted Thoroughbreds and sport horses. Our mission is to provide the specialized care and support they need to transition from racing and competitive careers into fulfilling second careers or peaceful retirements while promoting equine welfare.

We put our mission into action through individualized programs that include boarding, veterinary care, nutrition, training, and placement services. We continue to care for our horses as top-quality show horses, applying a deep understanding of Thoroughbred and sport horse physicality and psychology. Every horse receives a customized approach designed to support long-term health, well-being, and successful transitions. Through education and outreach, we raise awareness about horse exploitation, responsible aftercare, and the challenges retired and unwanted horses face.

Community support makes this work possible. Donations fund daily care and critical services, while dedicated volunteers, businesses, and community partners expand our impact. By sharing our horses’ success stories, hosting educational events, and advocating for animal welfare, we inspire philanthropy, build community engagement, and create hope, healing, and lasting opportunities for horses and the people who care about them.

    American Canyon Community Cats (ACCC)

Saving Lives. Preventing suffering. Creating a Better Future for Cats.

When American Canyon residents find a litter of kittens, discover an injured cat, or need help with community cats in their neighborhood, they often don’t know where to turn. We were created to be that resource.

As a 100% volunteer-run nonprofit, we improve the lives of cats through rescue, foster care, adoption, trap-neuter-vaccinate-return (TNVR), and community education. We work alongside residents, businesses, veterinarians, shelters, and rescue partners to provide humane solutions that reduce suffering and improve the health and well-being of cats throughout our community.

In just two years, we have helped more than 1,000 cats and kittens. In 2025 alone, we responded to more than 300 requests for assistance, provided TNVR services for 428 community cats, rescued 132 kittens, and helped prevent approximately 4,280 unwanted kitten births that would otherwise contribute to suffering and shelter overcrowding.

Every donation directly supports lifesaving programs that help cats receive medical care, prevent unwanted litters, find safety through rescue and foster care, and live healthier lives. Together, we are creating a more compassionate future for cats while helping our community become part of the solution.

    Where Compassion Becomes Extraordinary Care

We provide sanctuary, medical care, and second chances to animals who are abandoned, critically injured, disabled, elderly, or medically fragile. From emergency rescues to lifelong sanctuary placement, we specialize in compassionate, hands-on care that helps vulnerable animals heal and thrive with dignity.

Our sanctuary is known for taking on difficult cases others cannot accommodate, including rehabilitation, mobility support, neonatal care, and long-term recovery. We also assist local families facing hardship with their animals and help coordinate safe placements throughout California, ensuring compassion is never limited by convenience.

Stewardship is central to our mission. Whenever possible, we use reclaimed materials, repurposed infrastructure, and donated resources for enrichment projects and farm improvements so more donor support goes directly toward veterinary care, feed, rehabilitation, and lifesaving daily support.

As a fully volunteer-run nonprofit, no board member or team member receives a salary. Every contribution directly supports the animals and the community we serve. Create. Connect. Inspire. Accessible theater education sparking creativity, building confidence, and creating community.

Cafeteria Kids Theater (CKT) was founded in 2014 to inspire, engage, and enrich the lives of young people in Napa Valley through the performing arts. We address a gap in accessible, high-quality arts education in local schools and community programs.

Since then, CKT has reached over 15,000 students with inclusive programming, including full-scale musical productions, in-school residencies, after-school classes, acting workshops, and summer camps serving ages 3–17. Cake4Kids Napa

Every sweet treat says you matter, deserve to be celebrated, and are not forgotten.

Cake4Kids Napa provides underserved youth ages 1–24 with free, custom, volunteer-baked cakes to celebrate their birthdays, graduations, and adoptions. The youth who receive our cakes are experiencing challenging circumstances. We provide an integral component of emotional and social wellness to youth by ensuring that they are seen and celebrated on their special days. It’s our mission to make a lasting positive impact on the lives of these children and deliver smiles, one cake at a time.

We partner with twelve Napa social and human service agencies and over 70 committed local volunteers to ensure every child requesting a custom cake receives one. In 2026, our chapter surpassed 1,000 youth served locally since our chapter began in 2018. Nationally, our organization celebrated our 100,000th cake delivered in 2026, with the help of over 16,000 volunteers.

While we recognize that youth require the basics—food, shelter, and education—we know that those alone are insufficient to create a positive childhood and guide them into successful adulthood. Each custom sweet creates a special moment for a child in need, showing them that they matter and providing proof that they are part of a community that believes in them.

We provide the resources and space for members of the community to gather and create art. Our goal is to make art accessible to everybody by offering classes and workshops to all demographics with an eye toward diversity and inclusion. We work with Calistoga Parks and Recreation to offer free classes to residents, such as afterschool art classes for students and craft labs for residents ages 50 and above. We also allocate donations to a scholarship fund so that we can provide full or partial support to anybody who finds that price may be a barrier. Being able to gather and create art is incredibly important because it creates community, allows free expression, improves mental health and mood, and keeps the mind sharp at all age levels. Our programs provide all or most of the materials at an approachable cost, with opportunity for more support in order for people of all skill levels, abilities, and incomes to find a creative outlet. Lifting women and girls up, one Soroptimist program at a time.

We lift women and girls up, one Soroptimist program at a time, by investing in Calistoga youth through two mentorship programs, providing service, encouragement, and practical support. Many students need trusted adults, leadership opportunities, and extra resources to stay engaged in school, build confidence, and imagine a successful future.

Through S-Club, we sponsor a high school service club where students build leadership skills, plan service and fundraising projects, volunteer locally, and connect with women leaders who serve as mentors and role models. As student Evelyn G. shared, “I appreciate Soroptimist members who were always there when I needed them.”

Through Palisades Pals, we support Palisades High School students working to recover credits, get back on track, and pursue graduation, career training, college, or other next steps. In partnership with Rotary and school staff, we provide encouragement, supplies, scholarships, grants, and ongoing support that tells students they are seen, valued, and capable. Donor support directly funds these youth programs and sustains the relationships, opportunities, and resources students need to thrive.

    Canine Guardians Assistance Dogs

Our dogs provide love, hope, healing, and a purpose for living

We train and match service dogs with veterans battling PTSD, first responders, and individuals with disabilities, at no cost to the recipient. Despite a two-year training process costing approximately $33,000/dog, every placement is funded through community support.

Our dogs learn 90 commands, guided by dedicated local “Puppy Parent” trainers who raise them at home. These volunteers are the heart of our program. Our dogs recognize signs of anxiety and distress, interrupt nightmares, support daily tasks, and rebuild recipients’ confidence and independence. Last year, we placed five dogs—a 13-year-old with muscular dystrophy, a seizure-alert recipient, an ex-DA threatened by gangs, and two PTSD veterans. Each story is one of resilience, and each dog, a cherished family member living a purposeful life.

We also serve the broader Napa Valley community through outreach programs, school visits, hospital and therapy center visits, and education for local businesses about ADA rules and the role service dogs play in public life.

Your support makes it possible to change lives for those who need it most. Our recipients tell us these dogs save lives, and with continued community investment, we can train more dogs, reach more individuals in need, and offer hope to more families.

    CASA, A Voice for Children

Making a difference one child at a time – supporting children in foster care

Since 1996, CASA has helped thousands of abused and neglected children in foster care. These children are victims of physical, sexual, emotional abuse, and severe neglect. By state statute, there is only one CASA program in each county. CASA meets with the child weekly, forming a trusting relationship with the child and assessing their needs. During the time a child is in the foster care system, they will have, on average, five different social workers and three foster care placements. CASA is the only consistent adult who follows the child throughout the time they are in foster care. We build trusting relationships with the children, providing a caring, stable, and consistent adult to help children cope with adversity and develop resilience. Long-term, stable, and positive relationships with a trained adult are the single most important factor influencing positive outcomes for children in foster care. We provide educational, emotional, physical, and early intervention services for children of all ages. CASA provides children with essential and non-essential items. We love it when we can make a child’s day with the gift of a new backpack, bike, books, and other items.

Everyone deserves access to quality healthcare, regardless of income, language, age, or circumstance. Yet for many Napa County residents, navigating the healthcare system can be challenging and overwhelming.

We help nearly 17,000 vulnerable children, families, and older adults each year overcome barriers to care. Our bilingual team of Medi-Cal, Covered California, and Medicare experts assists low- and moderate-income residents with obtaining and maintaining health coverage, guiding them through enrollment and renewal processes, resolving coverage issues, and ensuring they receive the benefits for which they qualify.

Beyond insurance enrollment, we help clients establish ongoing healthcare by connecting them with primary care providers, accessing in-network services, and obtaining behavioral health resources. We also provide hands-on support when language barriers, technology challenges, or complex healthcare systems stand in the way, helping clients schedule appointments, coordinate transportation, and navigate the care they need.

Supporting parents during tough times so every child grows up safe, healthy, and loved

Cope Family Center is a Family Resource Center in downtown Napa that empowers parents to raise children who thrive. Through parent education, home visiting, emergency assistance, and connection to community resources, we help struggling families overcome challenges so they can build safe and stable homes for their children.

Many families in our community are facing significant stressors: rising costs, housing instability, immigration fears, and cuts to critical safety-net services. Without support, a parent’s stress can impact their children. Cope provides practical assistance to ease this burden on families. Last year alone, we distributed more than 21,000 diapers and nearly $35,000 in emergency aid, and we served over 1,500 parents and caregivers raising more than 2,000 children.

Thanks to generous community support from donors like you, our bilingual programs are offered at no cost, ensuring families can access the support they need when they need it. In partnership with the Napa County Child Abuse Prevention Council, we also lead community-wide efforts to prevent child abuse through education, advocacy, and mandated reporter training.

Together, we can strengthen families and help create safer, healthier futures for every child in our community.

When the need arises, the Deer Park Fire Department is available to serve the entire Napa Valley community. We also regularly service St. Helena and Calistoga to the Napa County line. In the event of a large-scale wildfire, we may serve on extended duty for strike teams throughout the state.

The Station Fire House, which sits on the grounds of St. Helena Hospital, was built and funded by volunteers from the community in the late 1960s. Your continued support keeps our community safer and more prepared during emergencies.

Down Syndrome Connection of the Bay Area

Empowering, inspiring, and supporting people with Down syndrome, their families, and their community

DSCBA is the only regularly staffed organization specifically dedicated to serving the Down syndrome community in the nine counties of the San Francisco Bay Area, including Napa County.

People with Down syndrome have an extra 21st chromosome, which can cause a range of physical and intellectual disabilities. The few available resources needed are difficult to find.

We are actively expanding our programming into Napa County. Each year, we offer free or low-cost access to supportive therapies, classes, one-on-one consultation, connection groups, and more for approximately 600–800 people of all ages with Down syndrome, as well as more than 2,000 family caregivers, medical providers, and education professionals. This work makes a long-term difference in the life success of people with Down syndrome.

Enchanted Hills Napa: Where Everyone Belongs and Opportunities Have No Limits

For decades, this has been a place where blind and low vision people discover independence, confidence, leadership, and lifelong community. Nestled on 311 acres in the Napa Valley, Enchanted Hills provides experiences that many participants never thought possible, from swimming and hiking to leadership development and employment opportunities. More than half of the camp staff are former campers, and many are blind or low vision themselves, creating a powerful culture of mentorship and possibility.

After the devastating 2017 Nuns Fire destroyed much of the camp, we undertook an ambitious rebuilding effort to restore this treasured community resource and create a more accessible, resilient campus.

To sustain our rebuilt facility and the life-changing programs it supports, we launched Enchanted Hills Napa, a mission-driven social enterprise. Through retreats, events, and facility rentals, it generates revenue that directly supports camp operations, property maintenance, and LightHouse programs hosted throughout the year.

This innovative model allows us to preserve a unique Napa Valley destination while reducing reliance on donations alone. Every event hosted here helps expand access to recreation, education, and community for blind and low vision individuals, ensuring that Enchanted Hills Camp remains a place where people can build confidence, independence, and lifelong connections.

Saving Napa County’s excess available Food – Bringing food to those in need

Our volunteers and staff pick up excess available food from restaurants, markets, grocery stores, and special events. We then safely transport and distribute the food to community-based organizations that focus on serving Napa County residents in need. Clients who benefit from our free food distributions include affordable housing residents, farm workers, shelter residents, and the working low-income.

Since our founding in 2018, we have recovered and distributed over 1,000,000 pounds of food. In 2025, we distributed 189,687 pounds of food, the equivalent of 158,073 meals, to over 6,600 people. We partnered with 87 food generator businesses to save their excess available food and 47 community-based organizations to distribute to those most vulnerable across Napa County.

We reduce or remove as many barriers as possible that prevent people from accessing food. We do not require any additional paperwork or identification, and we bring food to high-need communities or locations they are already accessing to minimize transportation and mobility barriers.

    First 5 Napa County

When we invest in the first five years, we shape a lifetime.

First 5 Napa impacts the community by creating opportunities for young children and families to thrive through programs and advocacy: safety, literacy, connection, and belonging.

The Safe Seat Program helps keep children safe by providing car seats to families who may not otherwise have access to these essential resources. Through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, children receive a free book each month from birth to age five, helping build home libraries and foster a lifelong love of reading. Belonging Through Books provides diverse and inclusive children’s books that help families see themselves reflected in stories while encouraging empathy, understanding, and meaningful conversations. The annual StoryWalk® brings literacy outdoors by transforming local parks and public spaces into interactive reading experiences, encouraging families to read together, stay active, and explore their community.

These programs are designed to meet families where they are and create meaningful experiences that support children’s development during their most critical early years. Beyond individual programs, we work to build a community where every child feels valued and every family feels supported.

By investing in young children today, we are helping create a stronger, healthier, and more connected Napa County for generations to come.

Friends of the Napa County Animal Shelter

Helping shelter animals heal, thrive, find, and keep loving homes throughout Napa County.

Every year, more than 1,600 abandoned, neglected, or surrendered animals arrive at the Napa County Animal Shelter, facing fear and an unknown future. While public funding provides essential shelter operations, it does not cover many lifesaving needs, such as specialized veterinary care, behavioral support, enrichment, and resources that help keep pets safely with the families who love them.

We serve the dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, birds, chickens, and occasional livestock who enter the shelter, along with the Napa County families who care for them. We provide emergency medical funding, enrichment supplies, adoption support, and programs that change the trajectory of vulnerable lives. Through our Behavioral Assistance Program, professional training helps struggling dogs heal, gain confidence, and become more adoptable. Our Furever Family Assistance Program helps adopters navigate unexpected medical or behavioral challenges, keeping pets in loving homes. We also support microchipping, community outreach, and other efforts that strengthen animal welfare across Napa Valley.

Community support makes second chances possible. Donations, partnerships, and volunteers provide more than care—they provide comfort in crisis, healing after hardship, and hope for a new beginning. Together, we transform shelter experiences and build a more compassionate Napa County where animals and people thrive.

Imagine not being able to read, not being able to speak English, having no one to help with your homework, being unable to afford summer programs for your child, or being older and struggling with phones or tablets. Every day, through funding and volunteers, we play a pivotal role in ensuring our library can address these and many other pressing needs, from literacy and English-language learning to the Summer Reading Program and Memory Lab.

Our impact extends well beyond the library’s walls. We donate books to schools, laundromats, senior housing, local hospitals, family centers, and anywhere else reading can make a difference. We provide funds for youth bus passes and, recently, the creation of a monarch butterfly pollination station at the library. Most importantly, we provide thousands of free books to children each year, so they can celebrate the joy of reading and the cherished feeling of owning a book.

By promoting literacy and lifelong learning, we seek to expand opportunity for everyone. Your support keeps our library a vibrant center of learning, cultural enrichment, and community engagement, where everyone can find inspiration and a sense of belonging, from a young mother teaching a child to read to a senior citizen preserving memories.

Girls on the Run North Bay

Building girls' confidence and resilience at a critical age, with impact that lasts.

Many girls in Napa face pressure around belonging, body image, and self-confidence during the critical pre-teen years, with limited access to programs that build both physical and emotional resilience. We close this gap with a research-based, after-school program that pairs movement with fun lessons building confidence, kindness, and resilience. They learn tools to manage stress, communicate with compassion, and know that they’re part of a community that supports them.

Trained volunteer coaches deliver our 8-week curriculum to 700+ girls annually between ages 8–13 in small-group, girls-only spaces. In our 20 years in Napa, we have impacted over 20,000 girls across Napa, Solano, and Sonoma. Over 1,200 girls and their families come together each year to complete a 5K run that represents the culmination of all of their learnings.

Last year, 85% of girls felt more confident after our program, and 99% felt their coaches genuinely cared about them, building a foundation of trust and confidence.

We want every girl to experience this program, regardless of their financial situation. Over 75% of our families require financial assistance. Your support helps cover registration costs, funds coach training, and covers supplies so every girl can experience proof of what she’s capable of.

Helping local families maintain stability while navigating the financial burden of cancer

A cancer diagnosis often creates significant financial hardship, impacting a family’s ability to pay for housing, utilities, transportation, groceries, and other essential needs during treatment. We provide direct financial assistance to help reduce these burdens, allowing patients and their families to maintain stability and focus on healing.

We serve individuals and families facing cancer treatment who are experiencing financial hardship. Assistance may include rent and mortgage payments, utilities, groceries, transportation, temporary lodging, and other household expenses not covered by traditional assistance programs. Patients are referred by healthcare providers, social workers, community organizations, and directly through applications. Since 2014, we have assisted more than 600 patients and families and distributed nearly $2 million in direct financial support.

Community support makes this work possible. Donations, sponsorships, volunteers, and partnerships help us respond quickly when families need help most. Beyond financial assistance, our support provides peace of mind, allowing patients to focus on treatment, recovery, and time with loved ones rather than worrying about paying their bills.

Dedicated to helping rabbits and providing resources to their guardians

Our all-volunteer, foster-based rabbit rescue started out in November 2019 when several individuals came together to clear a dump site of domestic rabbits in the city of Napa. Our mission is to improve the lives of rabbits and reduce the number of unwanted rabbits through education and spay/neuter efforts. In addition to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming, we focus on the welfare of domestic rabbits and educating the public on the responsible and proper care of rabbits as indoor companions.

Rabbits make wonderful companions, but their needs are often misunderstood. In 2025, we continued to demonstrate the importance of accessible veterinary services, education, training, and community partnerships. We directly impacted the lives of nearly 300 rabbits. We rescued 71 rabbits, rehomed 62, saw 133 rabbits at our community clinics, and facilitated 26 additional procedures. These subsidized procedures allowed rabbits to get the care they needed when their guardians were unable to afford them. At our essentials pantry, we distributed 300 pounds of food pellets, 150 pounds of hay, and other supplies. Through educational and prevention-focused services, we reached countless bunny guardians. Occasionally, this means helping someone determine that a rabbit is not the right fit for their family.

Alongside CAL FIRE, Napa County, and local Fire Safe Councils, we’ve stewarded nearly 10,000 acres of hazardous fuels, built and improved strategic fire breaks and evacuation routes, and installed “Beacon Boxes” that guide firefighters to critical roads, gates, and water sources during emergencies. We also help residents create defensible space and prepare their own properties through education, workshops, and outreach.

Here’s what makes your gift go further: we have a proven track record of leveraging grant dollars, so every donation acts as a force multiplier—unlocking far greater investment in local wildfire resilience. Community support lets us expand projects, implement initiatives grant dollars don’t fund, and reach vulnerable neighborhoods. Every gift helps replace fear with readiness—protecting the lives, homes, and landscapes that make Napa Valley home.

Keeping pets with the families who love them through the power of prevention.

At Napa Humane, we believe the power of prevention is the key to reducing pet homelessness and animal suffering in our community. As Napa County’s only year-round, below-market-rate spay/neuter clinic operating five days a week, we provide accessible services that keep pets healthy, families together, and animals out of shelters before a crisis begins.

Through affordable spay/neuter services, preventive veterinary care, humane education, and behavior support, we address challenges before they become emergencies. In 2025, we performed 4,319 spay/neuter surgeries, helped prepare 1,181 shelter and rescue pets for adoption, provided 2,829 vaccinations, and educated 3,654 Napa County students about kindness and responsible pet ownership.

Every service Napa Humane provides is an investment in prevention—reducing future shelter intake, preventing unnecessary suffering, strengthening the bond between people and their pets, and building a more compassionate community. By investing in prevention today, Napa Humane is creating healthier pets, stronger families, and lasting change for Napa County.

Support Napa parks and recreation programs!

Building on decades of community impact, the Napa Parks and Recreation Foundation (NPRF) is asking for your help to bring a universal changing table to the new restroom facility planned for Fuller Park.

For many children, teens, and adults with mobility, developmental, or medical needs, standard public restrooms do not offer a suitable support structure for personal care. Your donation will help provide a safe and secure facility that allows caregivers to assist loved ones with comfort, privacy, and dignity—giving them peace of mind and the opportunity to more fully enjoy our public spaces.

Since 1988, NPRF has partnered with the City of Napa to enhance parks, recreation programs, and community facilities that improve quality of life for residents and visitors. By securing grants and community donations, NPRF funds capital improvements, cultural events, urban forestry initiatives, and recreation scholarships that expand access to parks and programs throughout Napa. During last year’s Give!Guide campaign, NPRF provided recreation scholarships to more than 50 local families, helping dozens of children learn the life-saving skill of swimming, as well as participate in camps and other programs.

Based in Napa County, we’re your local partner in caring for the land, water, soil, wildlife, and each other. Napa RCD helps build climate-resilient communities and thriving natural spaces by working directly with the people who live and work in the county.

Last year, we connected over 1,300 local youth to nature through hands-on environmental education. Annually, we host workshops for 250+ adults on everything from water-wise gardening to soil health and fire-smart land care. More than 900 volunteers roll up their sleeves with us to clean up creeks, plant native trees, and restore habitat.

We also visit 200+ properties annually to offer expert advice on forest health, pollinator habitat, and sustainable land practices. And we’re in the field surveying fish populations and leading restoration projects that help make the Napa River healthier for all.

    Napa River Ecology Center

Educate Youth. Protect Environment. Connect Community.

The Napa River watershed is one of Napa Valley’s greatest natural resources, yet many residents face barriers to experiencing and caring for it. We strengthen community, protect the watershed, and inspire lifelong environmental stewardship by providing free, hands-on programs that connect people of all ages with nature.

We serve Napa County residents through environmental education, outdoor experiences, stewardship projects, after-school and summer programs, and community events. Each year, volunteers and community members remove over 1,300 pounds of litter (and 7 cubic yards of trash) and restore over 5,500 square feet of habitat through efforts such as community ice plant removal and student Watershed Protectors programming. These experiences engage thousands of residents in caring for the watershed while building environmental literacy and a lasting connection to place.

Community support, donations, sponsorships, and volunteers make this work possible. These investments keep our programs free, expand opportunities for more residents to participate, and help grow the Napa River Ecology Center as a lasting community resource where people can learn, connect, and protect the Napa River watershed for generations to come.

We uniquely coordinate local nonprofits to plan and exercise before crises strike, while actively bridging service gaps through our Community Connectors Project. Our four dedicated Connectors meet residents directly, helping them navigate available resources and uncovering deeper, long-term needs beyond their initial requests.

Your donation impacts senior citizens, low-to-moderate-income families, and Adults with Functional Needs (AFN)—populations facing the highest risks. Local data reveals 52% of low-income households and 43% of seniors lack emergency plans, while 79% of Latine residents earn under $50K annually, limiting their ability to prepare.

Yet many students lack access to the experiences, mentors, and connections that help them see what’s possible beyond the classroom. Since 1983, we have partnered with schools, families, and local employers to expand educational opportunities for Napa County students.

We serve approximately 18,000 students and support more than 1,000 educators across Napa County through career readiness, music education, youth wellness, and classroom innovation programs. More than 6,000 students participate annually in arts and enrichment experiences, and over $1.3 million in teacher grants has funded innovative classroom projects. Our new Discovery Campus in downtown Napa is expanding access to hands-on learning in fields such as culinary arts, robotics, and emerging technologies, giving students opportunities to develop practical skills and connect classroom learning to real-world futures.

In 2025, more than 1,100 farmworkers took part in our programs. We invest in families and youth—delivering 600 community resource bags to farmworker families and mentoring students through the Patrick Foley Fields of Opportunity program. When you invest in Napa Valley’s farmworkers, the impact reaches far beyond a single classroom. It shows up in a worker who speaks up at a meeting for the first time, a parent who can now plan for their family’s future, and a young person who sees a real career ahead in the vineyards they grew up around.

    Optimist Youth Basketball

Giving kids a better tomorrow through fun, exercise and personal development.

Napa Parks & Recreation doesn’t offer any athletic programs for teenagers. Fortunately, OYB remains a rare, local, and inexpensive program that serves Napa County’s teenagers. During the 2025–2026 season, over 300 kids participated in our various activities. Youth sports provide lasting physical, mental, and social benefits while accenting life skills such as resilience and teamwork that extend well into adulthood. In this era of teenage obesity crises and concerns about kids spending excessive time on social media, our kids in grades 6–12 play basketball throughout the fall and winter seasons. Additionally, we have conducted spring, summer, and fall clinics over the last several years.

Since 1979, we have provided a safe, affordable, and active environment for Napa County’s youth where they can develop and prosper into productive young men and women while getting much-needed exercise. We look forward to continuing to provide the community with a youth basketball program that is focused on fun for all who participate.

OYB costs several hundred dollars less than other local sports programs. Every person who registers is assigned to a team regardless of skill or ability to pay. All activities are conducted by volunteers, and there are no fees to attend games.

Students gain hands-on skills in CAD, programming, machining and fabrication, building, engineering, science, business planning, and community engagement. They build problem-solving skills and resilience as part of a collaborative team. We conduct community outreach to promote STEM and recruit new members, reaching an average of 300 youth a year.

Career discovery is built in. Students collaborate with STEM professionals and mentors, take on roles that mirror careers in engineering, business, and communications, and learn from alumni and professionals about the many directions STEM can lead. We use the FIRST program to provide students with the necessary skills to become the next leaders in our community.

Our team is supported by volunteers and fundraising from donors and sponsorships. We are committed to fostering and cultivating a team culture that provides ALL young people with the opportunity to become science and technology leaders who have the skills, confidence, and resilience to give back to the community and build a better world.

Specialized Support for Special Needs Families

We help Napa County children with disabilities and their families find the care and services that they need to learn, grow, and thrive.

For more than 20 years, ParentsCAN has supported thousands of local families of kids with disabilities, from tiny babies all the way to young adults. We are a place where parents feel welcomed and accepted, even during some of their most difficult moments. Our professionally trained staff are also parents and family members of children with disabilities, so ParentsCAN truly understands the unique challenges of raising a child with special needs.

We are strongly committed to making sure that we get rid of as many barriers to care as we can, so that more kids get the help they need:

    • We fundraise to keep our services free so that all families who need them can access them.
    • Classes, support groups, and consultations are available in English and Spanish.
    • We offer classes online and in person at multiple locations, including school sites, to make them easy to get to.

In our last fiscal year, we served almost 900 families: 70% from low-income households, 62% Spanish-speaking, and 23% from the rural areas of the county.

Guiding families through memory loss—every step, every story, every day

The number of people living with Alzheimer’s and dementia is growing in Napa County, leaving many families feeling overwhelmed, stressed, and alone. Because of kind community members like you, they don’t have to face this journey alone. Your generosity ensures that care, guidance, and connection are always within reach through our Alzheimer’s and Dementia Resource Center.

You make it possible for older adults with memory loss—and the people who care for them—to get the help they need. You help provide brain health programs, free family consultations, caregiver support groups, and practical education so families feel more prepared and less alone. Through Adult Day Health and respite care, participants have a safe, welcoming place to spend the day, receive personalized nursing care, stay active, and find joy, while caregivers can step away to rest, work, or recharge. In 2025, more than 5,800 people in our community benefited from these programs.

Community generosity powers this work. Gifts and volunteer time help fund daily care, expand access, and ensure no family is turned away. Because of you, families find comfort, caregivers gain confidence.

Because we take the time to build trust, we’re able to connect people to the resources, opportunities, and support they need to move forward.

Each year, we serve more than 4,500 individuals and families through culturally grounded programs, including resource navigation, food access, mental health and wellness, financial education, legal navigation, and youth and family support. We also reach more than 5,000 community members through outreach, workshops, and community events, meeting people where they are and making sure they have access to trusted information. Last year, we connected more than 1,800 individuals to trusted community partners. Building relationships and connecting people to the right resources is what we do best. Families continue coming back, referring others, and growing alongside us because they know they belong here.

    Rail Arts District (RAD) Napa

Bringing art to everyone for free

RAD is the City of Napa’s only art district. It begins south/east of downtown and continues north for two miles along the Wine Train and Napa Valley Vine Trail (NVVT) routes. We are contributing to establishing the Napa region as an arts destination and aspire to create a distinctive and exceptional art destination for California. Last year, about 200,000 people rode their bikes, walked, or took the train through the district and experienced the 45 artworks that have been commissioned so far, including the Quake Mosaic, made with the broken remains of the Napa earthquake and wildfires, and a mural that highlights the Los Braceros program, California’s Mexican Farm Labor Program. Our annual art festival drew 500+ people last year. It takes place on Action Avenue at Vallejo Street in the heart of the Rail Arts District and features live performance, interactive art experiences for children and families, and food by local providers. We produce a holiday art market that gives local artists a place to sell their work and produce arts education projects for youth and adults.

Every Pet Deserves a Home and Every Home Deserves Support

Our foster-based, solution-focused rescue is dedicated to reducing pet homelessness through prevention, education, and community support. We believe that spay/neuter programs are the key to solving pet overpopulation and keeping animals out of shelters.

In the past year, we spayed and neutered more than 175 feral and community cats through our Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program and found homes for kittens from those colonies. We also helped low-income families and seniors access affordable spay/neuter services for 50 dogs and 100 cats, preventing unwanted litters and reducing shelter intake.

What sets us apart is the expertise of our co-founder, a Registered Veterinary Technician, who works directly with individuals, businesses, and local veterinarians to identify challenges and create practical solutions that keep pets with their families whenever possible.

Our rescue efforts focus on the animals most in need, particularly senior dogs and cats and those with medical conditions beyond the resources of our local shelter. Through foster care, medical support, and community partnerships, we provide vulnerable animals with a second chance while helping families access the resources they need to care for their pets.

By addressing the root causes of pet homelessness, we create lasting solutions that benefit animals, families, and our community.

    Serenity Homes of Napa Valley

Affordable sober living helping Napa residents in recovery achieve stability and independence

For 30 years, we have provided safe, affordable sober living housing for people rebuilding their lives after addiction. In Napa Valley, the need for stable recovery housing continues to grow as individuals face homelessness, financial hardship, and limited access to long-term support after treatment or incarceration.

We operate seven sober living homes throughout Napa County, serving men and women in early recovery from substance use disorder. Residents receive affordable housing, peer accountability, recovery support, and connection to employment, education, healthcare, and community resources. Since 1996, we have helped more than 4,500 people rebuild their lives, and approximately 70% of residents leave our program sober and stable in their recovery.

Community support is essential because donations directly subsidize resident rent and program costs, making recovery housing accessible to people who are often starting over with very limited financial resources. Contributions help maintain safe homes, provide recovery support services, and remove financial barriers that can prevent long-term recovery. Beyond housing, our work restores dignity, reunites families, strengthens the local workforce, and brings hope to individuals seeking a second chance.

Helping our neighbors live safely, independently, and with dignity at home and beyond!

Thousands of older adults, people with disabilities, veterans, and caregivers in Napa County face barriers that threaten their health, safety, and independence. As the county’s only nonprofit providing durable medical equipment and medical supplies to anyone in need, we bridge critical gaps that allow our neighbors to remain safe at home.

Our services extend beyond medical equipment. We offer occupational therapist-led fall prevention programs, home safety assessments and accessibility modifications, caregiver education, transitional support after hospital stays, and compassionate assistance for individuals living with hoarding disorder—often helping clients create safe, habitable homes before facing eviction.

Since opening in 2021, we have distributed more than 103,000 pieces of medical equipment and supplies while serving an average of 724 clients each month. We have completed 124+ home safety assessments, supported 207+ clients through our Declutter Program, and extended services to veterans from 15 individuals in 2021 to 45 veterans each month, representing 16% of total clients served across all programs.

Community support helps us prevent injuries, preserve housing, reduce isolation, and empower our neighbors to live with dignity, independence, and confidence.

The Museum was established in 1978 to collect, preserve, study, and exhibit materials relating to the unique heritage of Calistoga and the upper Napa Valley, and provide related educational activities to enhance the knowledge and appreciation of residents and visitors. The local community and visitors to Calistoga, in the broadest sense, all ages and backgrounds, are welcome to attend our free public events. These include lectures, author discussions, special exhibits, tours, and film screenings. In keeping with Ben Sharpsteen’s vision that cost would not be a barrier to anyone, admission is free or with a voluntary donation. We offer history orientations for resort/winery staff.

Our educational impact is multi-faceted: dozens of local students from kindergarten through high school tour the Museum each year, and the Museum’s scholarship program supports higher education for Calistoga High School graduates. Outreach to the Latino community is ongoing through bilingual museum guides and special exhibits focusing on this rich heritage.

As an all-volunteer organization receiving no county, state, or federal grants, the Museum relies on donations, memberships, retail sales, and internal fundraising to cover operating costs. The City of Calistoga owns and maintains the facility; all operations are funded by the Museum Association.

Since 1963, we have brought people together through the joy and discipline of choral music. We provide accessible, welcoming opportunities for Napa Valley residents to sing, listen, connect, and experience the performing arts close to home. As an intergenerational chorus, we create a space where every voice is valued and supported.

We put our mission into action through concerts, showcases, recitals, and community events presented September through June. Guided by our experienced professional team, Artistic Director Ellen Patterson and Conductor Ronnie Zanella, our programs feature beloved choral traditions, diverse global expressions, and contemporary compositions in formal venues as well as intimate community spaces.

Our choir includes more than 40 singers, from teenagers to senior citizens, and reflects Napa Valley’s diversity. Through choral music, we build confidence, belonging, inclusion, and shared cultural experience. Our audiences are primarily local—88% are Napa Valley residents—from a broad range of communities.

Community support makes this work possible. Donations, volunteers, and partnerships will help us grow from 40 to 50 vocalists, provide training, add instrumentalists to our concerts, increase visibility, strengthen infrastructure, and ensure Napa Valley continues to benefit from accessible, high-quality choral music.

Serving by making available at no cost fresh produce to low-income Napa Valley families

Although Napa Valley’s wine and hospitality industries generate significant revenue, many of the families who support those very industries struggle to put healthy meals on their tables at home. Many elderly on fixed income or others receiving low wages may have to choose between covering the rent, securing essential medications, or eating healthy meals. When families turn to the CANV Food Bank for help, we want them to find more than canned and boxed goods. We work to ensure they also have access to fresh, nutritious, and delicious fruits and vegetables by donating an average of 20,000 pounds of freshly harvested produce each year.

At the same time, we offer others an opportunity to give back to their community by investing a bit of their time, energy, gardening “know-how,” or financial support, joining us in this charitable work. A little given by many adds up to make a big difference in the lives of some of our neighbors.

Helping those in need locally with food and shelter since 1941

SVdP addresses issues that threaten the well-being of families: food insecurity, pending evictions, pending utility shut-offs, and high gasoline prices. We help by providing food vouchers for local grocery stores, paying past-due rent and utility bills, and providing gasoline gift cards for local gas stations to anyone in need.

Any person may call our office requesting help with food, rent, utilities, and gasoline costs. Any person is eligible regardless of faith, age, gender, ethnicity, and sexual orientation. Assistance is provided once a genuine need is verified through home visits. In 2025, 213 families received food assistance through grocery store vouchers, 11 families received rent assistance to prevent a pending eviction, 8 families received utility assistance to prevent a pending utility shut-off, and 27 gas cards were distributed to the homeless to help with gasoline or convenience food.

Food insecurity, evictions, utility shut-offs, and high gasoline prices threaten the stability of families, the elderly, and the homeless. Supporting these groups matters because when these needs are met, family stability is nurtured, wage earners get to work, children get to school, and the homeless have basic needs met. Your support contributes to the overall health and welfare of the Napa community.

By providing free Psychiatric Service Dogs and ongoing support to individuals with mental health illnesses, we create a lasting, positive impact for both our recipients and our Napa Valley community. Our Psychiatric Service Dogs dramatically improve quality of life by mitigating the symptoms of anxiety, depression, and PTSD. Tailored to each person’s unique needs, they perform a wide range of specialized tasks—from managing panic attacks, stress, nightmares, and dissociation to ensuring safety in public spaces. Whether navigating a crowded room or relaxing at home, they provide constant medical and emotional support.

Uplifting one person ultimately strengthens their entire circle, including family, friends, and co-workers. When individuals have the tools to stay healthy, they are better equipped to care for themselves and their families. This fosters meaningful relationships that enrich our local neighborhoods, schools, and workplaces—collectively building a brighter Napa Valley.

Beyond matching dogs with handlers, we are dedicated to community outreach. We educate the public on the vital role of Psychiatric Service Dogs and the dangers of misrepresenting untrained pets as service animals. Through education, we aim to dismantle the stigma surrounding mental health—a persistent challenge fueled by negative associations and misconceptions—and foster a more compassionate, informed community.

Equipping teachers, empowering students, and strengthening classrooms across Napa Valley together.

TRCNB (Teacher Resource Center of the North Bay) ensures that every student has the basic tools they need to learn, regardless of their family’s income. Since 2010, we have provided free classroom supplies to public school teachers across the North Bay, removing a critical barrier to equitable education.

In Napa County, where over half of students are considered socioeconomically disadvantaged, teachers often spend an average of $673 annually out of pocket on essential materials. TRCNB bridges this gap by supplying items like pencils, notebooks, backpacks, and art supplies—so teachers can focus on teaching, not fundraising.

Each year, we serve approximately 400 teachers, reaching nearly 9,600 students. Our most recent distribution supported over 165 teachers from more than 40 schools, many from Title I campuses. By directly equipping classrooms, we amplify educational access and student success across the region.

TRCNB’s impact is made possible through the generosity of individuals, small businesses, and corporate partners who believe every child deserves a well-equipped learning environment. Together, we are investing in the future of Napa Valley—one classroom at a time.

    What We Do:

Our goal is to provide comprehensive sexual and reproductive health education to the students of the Napa Valley.

    The three core activities include:

    1. Educating youth directly
    2. Training teachers and professionals
    3. Dreaming toward a world where there is reproductive justice for all.

    Who We Serve:

We deliver week-long classroom programs in schools using the evidence-based “Be Real. Be Ready.” curriculum, covering healthy relationships, consent, contraception, and accessing health services. We currently serve six schools in the Napa Valley, with plans to expand to three more in the coming school year. We prioritize Title 1 schools where students face the greatest barriers to health information. Our Director of Education & Training brings 25+ years of experience, and as outside educators, students open up more freely with us about sensitive topics than they might with their regular teachers.

    Why Support Matters:

Community support allows us to reach schools that cannot fund this programming themselves. Your donation helps ensure that every Napa student—regardless of zip code or family income—receives the health education California law entitles them to and the knowledge to make safe, informed decisions about their bodies and relationships.

In Napa County, too many youth are expected to become independent while facing housing instability, trauma, foster care transitions, exploitation, poverty, migration stress, and systems that can be hard to trust. The need is urgent. Young people are trying to finish school, find work, stay housed, care for their mental health, and imagine a future while basic needs are still uncertain.

VOICES exists so they do not have to do that alone. Our youth-led center offers drop-in support, peer counseling, case management, food, clothing, laundry, housing navigation, Independent Living Program resources, financial literacy coaching, college and career support, wellness services, and youth leadership opportunities. We meet young people as whole people, not problems to fix.

What makes VOICES different is that lived experience is not treated as a barrier. It is treated as wisdom. Young people help shape programs, mentor peers, advocate for better systems, and practice leadership now, not someday.

Every meal, bus pass, housing application, wellness check-in, and youth council meeting is part of something bigger: young people building independence, belonging, and community power.
