How We Impact the Community
CanDo connects, inspires, and empowers neighbors to take positive action through volunteerism. Our projects are based on a commitment to address unmet community needs. CanDo created the Give!Guide, and we are proud that it has raised $ 8.6 million for 180 local nonprofits since 2013.
Four of CanDo’s other current projects address food insecurity: Garden for the Food Bank, Food Rescue Team, Napa Valley Food Project, and the Gleaning Project. Since 2014, we’ve grown, collected, or gleaned a total of 837,562 pounds of food plus $166,917 in donations! It has all gone directly to the CAN-V Food Bank, or through our partnership with Feeding It Forward Napa Valley, to our neighbors who need it most.
Pro-Inclusion Napa promotes understanding and tolerance throughout our community by developing programs based on our core values of respect, acceptance, and kindness. The Pro-Inclusion Napa Positive Poster Project continues to inspire local youth in classrooms and at community events. The Positive Yard Sign campaign amplifies the message of inclusivity and compassion throughout our community in both Spanish and English.
Our Neighborhood Reads volunteers keep Little Free Libraries around town stocked with a fresh supply of books for young readers.
CanDo is an all-volunteer organization with no membership requirements. We stay connected via a monthly electronic Newsletter that highlights done-in-a-day volunteer opportunities and community events.
Testimonial
The CanDo garden delivers fresh, organic, safe produce to the CANV food bank 3 times a week during the Summer and Fall harvest season. Patrons of the food bank pantry can select their favorites and try something new, if desired. A woman who delivers food for Meals on Wheels mentioned her clients are happy when the fresh produce is included with their deliveries.
What a $10 donation buys
Will purchase enough seed potatoes to plant and produce 60 pounds of potatoes to donate to the food bank.
What a $50 donation buys
Will purchase four heavy-duty plastic harvest bins for our Food Rescue Team to gather Farmers Market produce donations.
