How We Impact the Community
For 45 years, we have been Napa County’s dedicated resource for survivors of domestic violence (DV) and sexual assault (SA), providing safety, healing, and hope when people need it most. DThe generous matching of every donation to NEWS during this year’s Give!Guide up to $25,000 has been met. and SA create lasting barriers to safety, housing, health, and stability, affecting not only survivors but families and the broader community. We believe everyone deserves to live free from violence and fear.
We put this belief into action through free, confidential, and voluntary services that meet survivors with compassion, dignity, and respect, including 24/7 crisis response, emergency shelter, advocacy, counseling, housing support, children’s services, prevention education, and youth programs. As Napa County’s Rape Crisis Center, we provide specialized, wrap-around support for sexual assault survivors of all ages. In FY24/25, we served nearly 1,700 survivors, responded to over 2,000 Help Line calls, and provided emergency shelter to 32 adults and 42 children. Our bilingual, culturally responsive team helps survivors navigate crisis, creating stability and healing.
Community support makes this work possible. Donations, partnerships, and volunteers ensure survivors are met with compassion, dignity, resources, and someone to stand beside them. Together, we help create safer homes, stronger families, and a Napa Valley where every person has the opportunity to thrive.

- Become a trained DV/SA Counselor and offer emergency response to survivors, critical advocacy, and
- Help navigating safety planning, community resources, and next steps
- Become an American Canyon “NEWS Ambassador” and connect survivors to NEWS and raise
- Community awareness about DV/SA and the services NEWS provides.
- For our clients moving into their own homes after fleeing violence or experiencing homelessness,
- There are many needs. We appreciate donations such as:
- New household items: towels, dinnerware, silverware, cooking utensils, pots/pans, etc.
- New kitchen appliances: blenders, coffee makers, mixers, microwave, toaster, etc.
- New “bed-in-a-box kits
- Gift cards to Walmart, Target, Safeway, or Visa/MC type
