First 5 Napa County

First 5 Napa impacts the community by creating opportunities for young children and families to thrive through programs and advocacy: safety, literacy, connection, and belonging.

The Safe Seat Program helps keep children safe by providing car seats to families who may not otherwise have access to these essential resources. Through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, children receive a free book each month from birth to age five, helping build home libraries and foster a lifelong love of reading. Belonging Through Books provides diverse and inclusive children’s books that help families see themselves reflected in stories while encouraging empathy, understanding, and meaningful conversations. The annual StoryWalk® brings literacy outdoors by transforming local parks and public spaces into interactive reading experiences, encouraging families to read together, stay active, and explore their community.

These programs are designed to meet families where they are and create meaningful experiences that support children’s development during their most critical early years. Beyond individual programs, we work to build a community where every child feels valued and every family feels supported.

By investing in young children today, we are helping create a stronger, healthier, and more connected Napa County for generations to come.
