How We Impact the Community
NCBC is the only nonprofit wholly dedicated to improving active transportation countywide. We work to make riding a bicycle safe, convenient, and accessible for riders of all ages and abilities so that everyone can experience the joy and benefits of biking.
We educate: free Safe Routes to School bicycle safety education reaches over 1,500 elementary school students per school year countywide, and we distribute hundreds of helmets to those in need. Community rides, workshops, and bike rodeos teach traffic safety, bike handling skills, and essential maintenance knowledge to youth and adults.
We advocate: we work with local governments, often speaking at community and public meetings, to champion safer streets for all and secure improvements like separated bike lanes.
We encourage: Bike to Work and School Days engage 3,000 local youth and adults in healthy, active transportation. Napa Bikefest offers bicycle resources and community-building to over 1,000 attendees. Bike valet provides free, secure parking for over 1,000 bikes per year, making local events more bike-friendly and sustainable.
We are a community coalition of staff, board members, volunteers, members, and supporters who believe that biking enriches quality of life through improved health, cleaner air, reduced transportation costs, and stronger community connections.
