How We Impact the Community
The Napa River watershed is one of Napa Valley’s greatest natural resources, yet many residents face barriers to experiencing and caring for it. We strengthen community, protect the watershed, and inspire lifelong environmental stewardship by providing free, hands-on programs that connect people of all ages with nature.
We serve Napa County residents through environmental education, outdoor experiences, stewardship projects, after-school and summer programs, and community events. Each year, volunteers and community members remove over 1,300 pounds of litter (and 7 cubic yards of trash) and restore over 5,500 square feet of habitat through efforts such as community ice plant removal and student Watershed Protectors programming. These experiences engage thousands of residents in caring for the watershed while building environmental literacy and a lasting connection to place.
Community support, donations, sponsorships, and volunteers make this work possible. These investments keep our programs free, expand opportunities for more residents to participate, and help grow the Napa River Ecology Center as a lasting community resource where people can learn, connect, and protect the Napa River watershed for generations to come.
