How We Impact the Community

A cancer diagnosis often creates significant financial hardship, impacting a family’s ability to pay for housing, utilities, transportation, groceries, and other essential needs during treatment. We provide direct financial assistance to help reduce these burdens, allowing patients and their families to maintain stability and focus on healing.

We serve individuals and families facing cancer treatment who are experiencing financial hardship. Assistance may include rent and mortgage payments, utilities, groceries, transportation, temporary lodging, and other household expenses not covered by traditional assistance programs. Patients are referred by healthcare providers, social workers, community organizations, and directly through applications. Since 2014, we have assisted more than 600 patients and families and distributed nearly $2 million in direct financial support.

Community support makes this work possible. Donations, sponsorships, volunteers, and partnerships help us respond quickly when families need help most. Beyond financial assistance, our support provides peace of mind, allowing patients to focus on treatment, recovery, and time with loved ones rather than worrying about paying their bills.

Testimonial

Nearly two years into our daughter’s leukemia treatment, we were exhausted emotionally, physically, and financially. The support we received from the Tim & Jeannie Hamann Foundation made the weight of it all more bearable. It wasn’t just financial help—it was knowing someone saw our struggle and cared.

Mom of Patient

What a $10 donation buys

A $10 donation covers a kid’s haircut for a parent who quit work to stay home with their sick child.

What a $50 donation buys

A donation of $50 helps to cover gas to and from treatment.

Other Ways to Help

Supporters can volunteer to help with other related needs of people undergoing cancer treatment, such as light housekeeping, lawn mowing, haircuts for family members, and dog walking.

Patients going through treatment often experience isolation. Volunteers can help create events that
bring people in treatment together or organize fundraisers on behalf of the foundation.

In addition to food and gas cards, ‘boredom buster’ kits for both children and adults would be welcome, including new art supplies and books/puzzles.
