How We Impact the Community
Since 1974, NVGS has helped residents and visitors in Napa Valley connect with the stories and lives of their ancestors through the study of genealogy. We’re a community hub for ancestral exploration. Through our library, education programs, and trusted research support, we help people uncover forgotten family histories. Each discovery produces more than facts—it fosters understanding and helps ensure that the people who came before us are never lost to time.
Using our genealogical expertise, library, and research resources, we help members of the broader Napa Valley community discover, preserve, and share the stories of their ancestors. We aim to reach residents and visitors of all research levels, ages, and ethnicities. By preserving and sharing family history, we strengthen connection, deepen understanding, and create lasting roots for future generations.
Your support helps ensure that family stories are explored and remembered. Our library has been a trusted community resource for more than 50 years and is the only one of its kind in the Napa Valley. Your gift allows us to maintain irreplaceable local records, provide invaluable research support, and broaden our reach throughout the community.
NVGS is operated entirely by volunteers and receives no regular external funding.
Testimonial
I helped my husband’s grandmother, Lucy, reunite with her younger sister. They had been separated for 75 years after both being adopted from an Orphan Train. The NVGS Library’s online and physical resources helped me determine her adopted name, vital information, and where she was living at the time.
