How We Impact the Community
We reduce risk for catastrophic wildfire, which therefore protects lives, property, and ecosystems across Napa County. Through a network of 23 Fire Safe Councils, we help neighbors organize and implement projects that strengthen community wildfire resilience—from grazing to fuel breaks, and beyond.
We lead major fuel reduction projects in partnership with Napa County Fire and CAL FIRE. We secure funding to offer cost-share programs that help residents create defensible space and provide free preparedness resources countywide. Since 2022, we’ve brought in approximately $41 million in grants and contracts to help Napa County become more wildfire adapted. This includes county-funded efforts, CAL FIRE programs, forest health treatments, reflective sign distribution, defensible space assistance, and more. Our portfolio includes over 260 projects, treating more than 3,500 acres of hazardous fuels.
Our priorities are safety and stewardship. Fire-adapted landscapes protect biodiversity, support water systems, and recover faster post-fire. By aligning with local fire agencies, we prioritize high-risk areas, enabling faster response and safer conditions for firefighters when wildfire inevitably comes.
Testimonial
When firefighters come from outside the area, they often don’t know our roads, gates, or water sources. The Beacon Box ensures they have what they need, whether in hard copy or digital form, quickly and efficiently. Knowing our Fire Safe Council is installing Beacon Boxes throughout our community gives us real peace of mind
