Moving Forward Towards Independence

How We Impact the Community
For 28 years, Moving Forward has provided tools and support for adults with developmental, learning, and autism spectrum disabilities to build the skills, confidence, and independence needed to learn to live independently and thrive. We offer a safe, supportive environment where residents who might otherwise face isolation can develop meaningful relationships, pursue employment, and lead productive, healthy, and fulfilling lives.
We serve approximately 40 adults through our program. Services include independent living instruction, vocational training, cooking, budgeting, fitness, art, music, dance, and social skills development. Residents participate in weekly volunteer opportunities, recreational outings, Special Olympics, and community events that promote inclusion and engagement.
Some residents have pets and live with roommates or independently with daily support from a caring team. Most importantly, they are not isolated; they are part of a community where they are known, valued, and included, with friends to share meals, activities, and everyday life.
Through our programs, residents build lasting friendships, meaningful relationships, and a strong sense of belonging in the community. For many, this is the first time they experience true friendship and inclusion. Community partnerships and support sustain our mission and ensure adults with disabilities can live with dignity, hope, and belonging.
