How We Impact the Community
We provide life-changing service dogs—completely free of charge—to veterans with PTSD, 1st Responders, and individuals with disabilities. Our dedicated local volunteer puppy trainers pour their hearts into raising and training each pup for 20+ months, helping recipients reclaim independence, confidence, and hope. These incredible dogs serve many vital functions—they retrieve dropped items, carry essentials, offer comfort in public spaces, calm emotional distress, and provide unconditional love and unwavering support. Simply put: our dogs save lives.
The journey transforms our volunteer trainers, too. They discover the profound joy of giving back, witnessing the direct impact of their time, patience, and love on both the dogs and the people they serve, and make new friends.
We don’t stop there—Canine Guardians also provides facility dogs, engages with the community at local events, speaks to civic and service groups, and educates youth through 4-H programs.
